Madison's Room

Cheri's parents have bought us our baby girl's bedding! (see pictures to the left) We found this bedding set and just fell in love with it. We ordered it last night and we can't wait to get it! After we found it we saw an article that Courtney Cox bought the same bedding for her daughter! There are some great items that go with the bedding that I will be registering for later and I will post a link for that on the blog.
We can't wait to get the bedroom started! So many plans...we don't know where to begin!!!

It's a .........

We had a wonderful Christmas! We went up to Cheri's parent's ranch and most of her family was there with us. We had a really hard time waiting to open our special envelope. It was torture to not know! So on Christmas Eve, when Nolan got off work and drove up to the ranch, we decided to sneak into our room and open the envelope. We couldn't believe what we saw...we were silent...in shock... Then we went back to join the rest of the family and we decided to go ahead and tell them...we couldn't wait. Nolan held up a blue outfit and I held up a pink outfit and then...
Nolan put his blue outfit down and we announced that we are expecting a.....GIRL!!!

Madison Kaye Real should be joining us this May!!!
Stay tuned!!!
We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!!

20 Weeks...1/2 way...ULTRASOUND!!!

Wow...I can't believe we are 1/2 way through the pregnancy. I am now 5 months pregnant and still really enjoying the experience. According to our favorite website, Mango weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. Mango's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana and about the size of a cantaloupe. I can definitely feel the baby move now...weird and exciting!!!

We went to the doctor's for a check up today and it was amazing! We had our 20 week ultrasound and we got to see our little Mango again. Mango is currently breach, which is ok this early, so it's head is up by my belly button and it's legs were stretched out and it's feet were crossed at the ankles. Mango was really moving this time. You could see it's little fist stretch and fly through the air. At one point Mango stretched out, arching it's back and I think I caught Nolan tear up. Nol said OMG it's moving...wow!!! I think it was so special for Nolan to see what I've been feeling the last couple of days!

The doctor said the baby looks great. All of the measurements are perfect and match the due date. The doctor even got a close shot of Mango's face and said it had it's daddy's nose!!! We can't wait till we get to find out the gender...but the doctor said that Mango was in the worst position possible to tell it's gender! We aren't even sure if she was able to determine it or not. We maybe waiting on knowing a little longer...we'll have to see! It's really harder than I thought to hold on to this envelope with the possibility of such amazing news!!! Hope we have something to share with you soon!!!

The story behind Mango...

I know there are a few people out there that are very confused that we have nicknamed our first child Mango. Here's the story behind the name...
Just two weeks after we found out we were pregnant we flew to Hawaii (the trip had been planned months in advance, the pregnancy was just a bonus!) to vacation with Cheri's parents and visit with Nolan's parents. We were so blessed to be able to tell both our parents the great news in person in Hawaii! While we were in Hawaii I ate TONS of mangos. (They are much better in Hawaii). Nolan made the joke that our baby better not come out orange from me eating too many mangos. Then it just became the perfect nickname because we didn't want to call the baby "it" and we couldn't think of anything else that was cute. We just decided we would call the baby mango and it caught on! And yes, Nolan has already nicknamed our next child guava. But we won't have to worry about that for a while...one step at a time!!!

Our little Mango will have a real name soon! We have our 20 week appointment December 18th! We will be getting an ultrasound to determine the gender and to measure the growth and progress. But we won't really know the gender until Christmas morning.

Be sure to log on 2-3 days after Christmas to find out the gender of our little Mango!!!

4 month update!

Wow...we are now 4 months pregnant! According to a pregnancy website that sends us updates our little "Mango" is the size of an avocado! The site also said that "Mango" can now hear us so I guess we should start watching what we say!!! I should be able to feel "Mango" kicking sometime between now and the next 3 weeks. How exciting!

Baby Furniture

My mom took us shopping for baby furniture today and we got the cutest set! We got a nice gender neutral set since we don't know the sex of "Mango" yet. We got a beautiful crib and changing table/dresser. We should get it in about 6 weeks! We are sooo excited, we can hardly wait. We are so thankful for my parent's generosity! We will post pictures soon!

As for the sex of "Mango" we should be able to find out fairly soon! We are planning on having the doctor put the picture in an envelope, without telling us, and we are going to wrap it up and put it under the Christmas tree and open it Christmas morning! Can you think of a better Christmas present? Our next appointment is the day before Thanksgiving...I will update you all after the appointment!

Hearing the heart beat for the first time!

Nolan and I went to the OBGYN last week for a 13 week check up and we got to hear baby "Mango's" heart beat for the first time. It was amazing to hear it's little heart beating so fast. Nolan said, "I can't believe you can hear the baby, sounds like he was cuttin' the rug...doing a little dance or aerobics!"

I am very glad to be out of my first trimester! I feel like this is going so fast! The evening sickness is pretty much gone, thank goodness! I have a little bit more energy and my sense of smell has lessened so I can now cook at home again. I feel great, almost like this is too easy! I'm really enjoying this and I am grateful that I feel so good.

First Look

I went to the doctor 2 weeks ago thinking I was just getting some blood work done and they ended up giving me my first ultrasound! It was AMAZING!!! I now know what they mean by love at first sight! To see our little child was very emotional and I could even see it's little heart beating, wow!!! The good news is that it looks like only one baby in there. Although, Auntie Lyndsie swears that there is another one hiding in there somewhere. Here is the first look of our sweet little "Mango" (at 8 weeks it is the size of a kidney bean, you will see it on the left under the little bubble called a yolk sak, it looks like it is thinking or maybe dreaming of its parents).

We're Pregnant!!!

It is finally time for us to share the great news that we are officially pregnant! We are so excited to be sharing this news with you and we are still in a little shock that we are starting a family. I think Nolan asked me at least ten times if I was sure the test was right. Once I saw the doctor and brought him the report I made him stop asking. We were so lucky to be able to break the news to our parents in person, in Hawaii of all places. We told Grandma and Grandpa Lovingier when they got into Kauai and they were so happy they were speechless. Then we flew over to the Big Island of Hawaii to tell Grandma and Grandpa Real our big surprise. They were so excited for us as well and Grandpa Henry even cried! They were both so happy for us and so excited to be grandparents again. We can't wait to introduce our little Mango (Nolan's nickname for the baby) to everyone.
